This workshop provides students the opportunity to learn more about the charity, learn song-writing techniques from professional song-writers, and write, perform and record an original song for a CD. On the first day of this workshop, a representative from the charity talks with the students about the work of their organization. By acquiring a deeper understanding of the cause, the experience of performing in the concert often becomes more meaningful for the students. Later in the day, students break into groups, led by professional song-writers, and write songs based on their reactions to what they have learned and/or on any subject of their choice. On the second day, we record the students performing their original songs and create a CD of these performances. Students also perform the original songs at the concert. All proceeds from the sale of the CD are donated to the charity. INTRO TO LOCATION RECORDING 2-DAY WORKSHOP / $140 Saturday, April 24 from 12:00-6:00 and Sunday, April 25 from 1:00-6:00 PM This workshop is held during the same time as the song-writing workshop and is for both non-musicians and musicians interested in learning how to record live music. On the first day, students will join the song-writing workshop participants when a representative from the charity talks about the work of their organization. Later in the day, a professional sound engineer will teach the students about the equipment and set up techniques used in live recording. On the second day, students will work with the sound engineer to record the song-writing students performing their original songs.
