SPRING BAND CLASS $600

Meets once per week for 1.5 hours from March 5, 2012 to June 14, 2012.  Each class has 4-6 students and 1 teacher and is comprised of drums, guitar, bass, keyboards and vocals.  Teachers work with the bands on developing a set of songs to perform at the concert. The material performed by the bands is chosen by the students, with guidance from the teacher. Teachers help the students learn cover songs, as well as develop original songs if students are interested.

For scheduling information, please see page 2 of the Registration Form (click here for Homeschool Registration Form).
The Spring Session Concert will be on Friday, June 15, Saturday, June 16 and Sunday, June 17, 2012.

  • Various performances at community events
  • Plugged In Fall Session Concert

SONG-WRITING and DIGITAL MUSIC PRODUCTION 2-DAY WORKSHOP $175

Open to all Plugged In students, as well as any kids ages 10-18 who are not in Plugged In

Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22 2012.

At the end of each Plugged In session there is a benefit concert that raises money for a charity chosen by the students.   This workshop provides students the opportunity to learn more about the charity, learn song-writing techniques from professional song-writers, write, perform and record an original song for a CD, and learn digital music production.  Students will be performing the original songs at the concert.

DAY 1
1:00-6:00 PM

Location- TBA

A representative from the charity will talk with the students about the work of their organization. By acquiring a deeper understanding of the cause, the experience of performing in the concert often becomes more meaningful for the students.   Later in the day, students will break into groups, led by professional songwriters, and write songs based on their reactions to what they have learned and/or on any subject of their choice.

DAY 2
Groups will go in 4 ½ hour shifts between 11 AM – 8 PM
Day 2 of workshop will take place at The Record Company, a non-profit recording studio in Boston committed to the revival of youth music education and the advancement of independent record-making.

We will go to a professional recording studio, where a recording will be made of the students performing their original songs for a CD to be sold to raise money for the charity.  Also, on the second day, students will be taught digital music editing in a computer lab at the studio.
