PLUGGED IN PRESENTS: BANDING TOGETHER FOR A CURE
Benefit Concert Brings Together Local Boston And Teen Bands To Support Cancer Care

January 10, 2005— Needham, MA— The Plugged In Teen Band Program presents "Banding Together for a Cure," a benefit concert for The Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care at the Regent Theatre in Arlington on Saturday, January 22 from 7-11 PM.

Plugged In is a non-profit organization providing music education and instruction to teenagers interested in starting a rock band and performing in a concert.  As the music industry is dominated by business, money, success and fame, Plugged In aims to infuse their students’ music experience with social consciousness by using the final concert as a benefit to support causes important to them.

“We’re honored that teens from the Plugged In organization chose The Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care to donate the proceeds of their benefit concert,” said Cam Neely, president of the Foundation. “It is inspiring that teens recognize that they can be powerful in the fight against cancer, and that they are excited to use their talents to help others.”

Featured performers at the concert will be longtime Boston favorites including: the Band That Time Forgot; the So and So’s (winner of a 2005 Boston Music Award for Local Album of the Year), Grey Star Morning; Roadside Charm; Ace and Artemis; and five Plugged In teen bands (ages 11-19). Dan Andelman, Executive Producer of the Phantom Gourmet will emcee the event.

The event will also include a silent auction with items that include a Cam Neely autographed hockey shirt, a Johnny Damon signed baseball from the Red Sox, dinner for four at Henrietta's Table, a one-night stay at the Charles Hotel, an Epiphone guitar, as well as other valuable sports and music memorabilia.

Past concerts have raised money for I Love Music Foundation, started by Walter McCarty of the Boston Celtics, to promote music opportunities, resources and education for Boston youth; Bring Back the Music, a Young Audience of Massachusetts program providing weekly instrumental instruction to fourth and fifth grade students at Boston Public Schools; and Seeds of Peace, a camp in Maine where Jewish and Arab teenagers learn conflict resolution, and the Mass Tobacco
Free Coalition.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, and can be purchased by calling the Regent Theatre @ 781-646-4TIX (4849) or online at www.regenttheatre.com.
